Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani addressed the 12th Brainstorming session of IAUA organised at SKUAST-K, Srinagar

The 12th Brainstorming Session of Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA) on ’Redefining Agricultural Education to Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Discovery (LEED)’ was organised on 24-25 August, 2023 at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology of Kashmir, Srinagar. Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani, Vice Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani invited as a keynote speaker. He delivered a keynote address on ‘'Revolutionizing Farming Practices in India through Innovations in Mechanization, Drones and Robotics'  


Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani highlighted the transformative potential of technological innovations like  drones, robotics and automation. These advancements promise to revolutionize farming practices, improve resource efficiency, and drive sustainability. The integration of digital technologies in agriculture, such as sensors, drones, smart irrigation, and robotics, enables precision farming, plant health management, and yield optimization. He emphasized the importance of technology adoption to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure sustainable practices. In line with global trends, India's agricultural sector is embracing digital agriculture. He said that the future of agriculture will be led by knowledge, technology innovation, and skill. Mechanization and automation have already proven to be significant inventions, enhancing productivity and reducing labor-intensive tasks. These advancements are essential for addressing food security, climate change, and poverty challenges.

He also highlighted the initiatives at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, where the Centre of Excellence for Digital Farming Solutions has been established under NAHEP. This center focuses on advancing agricultural sector by integrating technologies like agri-bots, agri-drones, and AGVs.

His keynote address concluded by underscoring the benefits and challenges of technology adoption in Indian agriculture. While innovation promises enhanced productivity and sustainability, addressing initial costs, technological literacy, and maintenance issues is crucial for successful implementation.
