Field visit at Rajewadi, Tq. Selu

A field visit was organised at Rajewadi Tq. Selu Dist. Parbhani on the field of Shri Dhanraj Wamanrao Kendre on 22nd October 2023. The programme was presided by Dr Indra Mani, Hon. Vice Chancellor, VNMKV, Parbhani, MLA Shri Babajani Durani, Krishi Bhusan Shri. Kantrao Deshmuk, Dr. K.P. Gore, Former Vice Chancellor, Dr. U M Khodke, DI & Dean, Shri Kale, Additional Superintendent of Police, Parbhani, Shri. Vishwambhar Gawande, retired RDC, Dr BV Asewar, ADP, College of Agriculture, Golegaon and Dr V S Khandare, ADP, Horticulture College, SD Raswae and progressive farmers Shri Sampati Wamanrao Kendre, Ramrao Wamanrao Kendre, Jaywant Kendre, Gaikwad, and graced the occasion.     Shri Dhanraj Kendre is a retired additional collector has become inspiration for farmers and agriculture enthusiastic by transforming there 40 acres of ancestral land into a thriving sweet orange estate. Having serving administrative services for several decades at State Government returned his native village in 2014. Adjoining area is known for cultivating cotton soybean and sugarcane crops traditionally. However, poor yields and unpredictability associated with climate change have made many farmers to leave with minimal returns. At this juncture it is a perfect example Shri Kendre has shown the farmers how to adapt to the climate change for sustainable livelihood by switching over to the cultivation of fruit crops. Shri.Kendre  in 2018  planted sweet orange variety Nucellar in the month of June on a area of 40 acres. The hard work has paid off now and the orchard is now in bearing condition, there is fruit bearing in cluster, per cluster 7-8 fruits, uniform fruit size and expected to yield 150 tons with returns of Rs 35 lakhs approximately. The joy of successful story doesn't end here. He is leading the joint family with total 36 family members all working together in the field. He emphasis on  capacity building of women's and youngsters in the family. He further added his retired life is in quality because of joy of creating an orchard, absence of traffic hassles, unadulteral milk and fresh vegetable here is unmatched. On the occasion, Dr Indra Mani advised and guided Kendre family on water conservation, micro irrigation and mechanization aspects of orchard management and Agrotourism.

Agribizz 2k23 - Farewell to Outgoing Batch & Welcomes Freshers with Grand Event

Chakur, 20th October 2023 : The Post Graduate Institute of Agribusiness Management (PGIAM), Chakur hosted a memorable farewell and welcome event, Agribizz 2k23, to bid adieu to the outgoing batch and extend a warm welcome to the new batch of students. The event took place on the 20th of October, 2023, and was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Prof. Indra Mani, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. Dr. U.M. Khodke, Director of Instructions, and Mr. Niketan Kadam (IPS), Asstt. Superintend of Police, Chakur were Chief guest of the function. The organizer Dr. R.V. Chavan, Associate Dean, PGIABM, Chakur, Dr. B.M. Thombare, Associate Dean (CoA, Latur), and Dr. Jagdish Jahagirdar, Associate Dean (VDABC, Latur) were present on the dais.

The event kicked off with an emotional farewell to the outgoing batch of students. The departing students were lauded for their hard work and dedication during their time at the institute.

During the event, the dignitaries shared words of wisdom and inspiration with the students. Dr. Prof. Indra Mani, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the importance of management in life, the importance of innovation and research in agribusiness, encouraging the students to be the torchbearers of change in the agricultural sector. 

Dr. U.M. Khodke, Director of Instructions, encouraged the students to be proactive in their learning and make the most of the educational opportunities provided by the institute. H said management students are always smart and it is seen in the program. Management is applicable in each corner of Agriculture. Mr. Niketan Kadam said agriculture is an emerging field and management in Agriculture has wider scope.

Dr. Ranjit Chavan given Intrductory Remarks and mentioned about the golden moment of three batches altogether celebrating the program, this is rare event.

The evening was not just about speeches and advice. It also featured cultural performances, showcasing the diverse talents of the students. Music, dance, and drama added an element of entertainment and festivity to the event, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the students. Agribizz 2k23 marked the beginning of a new academic year at the Post Graduate Institute of Agribusiness Management, Chakur, promising an enriching and fulfilling experience for both the outgoing and incoming students. As the outgoing batch bids farewell to their alma mater, and the freshers embark on a new journey, the event captured the spirit of growth, learning, and the unbreakable bond that ties the Agribizz family together.

SEA Innovation Award-2023 received by CFT Team

CFT team of Sugreev Shinde, Sangram Wandhekar, and Dr. R. B. Kshirsagar (Research guide) received the Shri Somalal Vyas SEA Innovation Award-2023 for the innovation "Extraction, Characterization and Quality evaluation of Wood Apple Seed Oil and it's Utilization in Food Products" with the hands of Shri Sanjeev Chopra (Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution), Dr. Jerry Sambuaga (Vice minister of Trade of Indonesia), Shri Nadir Godrej (Chairman Godrej Industries), Shri Pasha Patel, Shri Ajay Jhunjhunwala (President, SEA), Shri. Atul Chaturvedi and Dr. Prabodh Halde in the 52nd Annual General Meeting and award function at the Westin hostel Pawai, Mumbai.

Seminar Highlights the Crucial Link Between Water and Food Processing for India's Prosperity

On the eve of World Food Day, the College of Food Technology at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, organized a one-day seminar under the theme "Water is life - Food Processing Prospect for India." The event took place on the 18th, October and featured prominent speakers and dignitaries in the field of food technology and agriculture.

The seminar, which was graced by Dr. Indra Mani, the Vice-Chancellor of VNMKV, Parbhani, as the chairman of the function, brought together leading experts to discuss the critical role of water in food processing and its implications for India's agricultural and economic future. Dr. Indra Mani, Vice-Chancellor, VNMKV, Parbhani, Emphasizes the Vital Role of Water Dr. Indra Mani, in his inaugural address, underscored the paramount importance of water for human life and agriculture. He stressed the necessity of sustainable water management practices to secure food production and ensure the well-being of India's population.

Dr. Prabhod Halde Envisions the Food Processing Prospects for India, Dr. Prabhod Halde, a respected figure in the field of food processing, shared his insights on the immense potential for food processing in India. He highlighted the need for modernizing food processing techniques to meet the growing demand for processed food products and to support the nation's economic growth.

Director of Instruction Dr. U.M. Khodke emphasized that "water is life" and called for responsible water usage to secure a sustainable food supply for India's future.

The event also featured Dr. D.N. Gokhale, Director of Extension Education (DEE), and Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar, who shared their valuable insights on the subject. This seminar brought to the forefront the critical need for water conservation and sustainable food processing practices to ensure India's food security and economic development. College of Food Technology, VNMKV, Parbhani, achieves complete dominance at ADROIT-23 National Tech Fest on Food Processing

In a remarkable display of skill and knowledge by students of College of Food Technology, Parbhani, emerged as the uncontested champions at the prestigious ADROIT-23 National Tech Fest on Food Processing. This national-level event, organized by Anand Agricultural University in Anand, Gujarat on World Food Day dt. 16th Oct.  More than 800 students from agricultural university were participated in the event. The team from CFT showcased their unparalleled expertise and innovation, securing an impressive clean sweep of top honors: The dynamic trio of Sangram Wandhekar, Rahul Kamble, and Amol Dukare proved their mettle, winning the first prize in the fiercely competitive Future Food Entrepreneurship Challenges competition. Their innovative ideas and dedication were recognized with this prestigious award. The team comprising Shailesh Veer, Lakshimikant Ghuge, and Vishal Raut demonstrated their knowledge and quick thinking in the Food Quiz, securing the coveted first prize. Their comprehensive understanding of food-related topics set them apart. CFT's excellence was further underlined by Rahul Kamble, Sangram Wandhekar, and Vaibhav Jadhav, who clinched the second prize in the Food Quiz, highlighting the institution's remarkable depth of knowledge. In recognition of their achievements, the CFT team was awarded prizes totaling ₹13,000, reaffirming their position as leaders in the field of food processing and entrepreneurship. This outstanding performance at ADROIT-23 not only showcases CFT, Parbhani's commitment to excellence but also underscores the significance of World Food Day as a platform for celebrating and promoting innovations in the food industry.

Dr. Indra Mani, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. U.M. Khodke, the Director of Instruction, and Associate Dean Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar extended their heartfelt appreciation to the students for their remarkable success.

Hon’ble VC Dr. Indra Mani attends Agrovision Meeting at Nagpur, Extends Invite to Hon’ble Shri. Nitin Gadkari for National Seed Congress

Nagpur : Dr. Indra Mani, Vice-Chancellor of VNMKV attended a crucial Agrovision meeting in Nagpur on October 7, 2023. During the meeting, Dr. Indra Mani extended a special invitation to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways (GoI) Shri. Nitin Gadkari, to preside as the Chairman for the inaugural ceremony of the 12th National Seed Congress, which is being organized by VNMKV at Sambhaji Nagar during Dec., 11-13, 2023. 

Dr. Indra Mani sought the guidance of Hon’ble Shri. Nitin Gadkari in ensuring the successful execution of the upcoming National Seed Congress, a mega event that will play a pivotal role in promoting advancements and innovations in seed production.

Furthermore, Dr. Indra Mani solicited valuable insights from the Union Minister regarding ways to improve farming practices and enhance the overall welfare of farmers in the Marathwada region, underscoring the university's commitment to the betterment of agriculture in the area.

Dr. Indra Mani has requested Hon'ble Shri Gadkari to look into the progress of a rail bridge construction at the university's entrance gate, as well as the maintenance of inner university campus roads and farm roads. These improvements would offer significant benefits to farmers, students, and university staff.

During his presence at Nagpur, Dr. Indra Mani also interacted with several prominent figures in the field of agriculture and research, including Hon’ble Dr. C.D. Mayee, Former Chairman of the ASRB, Dr. Niteen Patil, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the MAFSU, Dr. Laxmikant Kalantri, and a distinguished scientist associated with the ICAR. These interactions aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in the pursuit of agricultural excellence.
