VNMKV signed a MoU with GIZ for collaborative work on AgriPV

VNMKV, Parbhani signed a MoU with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (Germany) at Indian National Science Academy Seminar Hall, New Delhi on dt. 24.06.2023 for collaborative R & D of Agricultural Photovoltaic (AgriPV) technology. The MoU was signed by Prof. Indra Mani, Vice-Chancellor, VNMKV, Topias Winter, Director at Indo-German Energy Forum SO GIZ., and Mr. Vivek Saraf, CEO, Sunseed APV Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon. Dr.P.L. Gautam, Hon'ble Former Vice Chancellor, GP Pant University of Agriculture & Technology & Former DDG (Crop Science) and YVK Rahul were present on this occasion.

The goal of the research under MoU is to devise executable crop cultivation strategies for the selected crops under the different Agrivoltaic structures, that would benefit from the environment created by the solar panels to generate higher yields or higher revenues via shifting the timing of production to off season cycles. For over 60 years, GIZ has been working jointly with partners in India for sustainable economic, ecological, and social development. 

Objectives of the MoU are;

1. To create a crop suitability matrix for Agri PV in India Climatic Zone (Marathwada region especially)

2. To develop a R& D Partnership of VNMKV with German Institute on Agri PV

3. To support the capacity building of Agri officers in the domain of Agri PV

4.To prepare a methodology for assessing the potential of Agri PV technologies in India

5.Sharing of Research and Educational facilities for PG and Ph.D. Students related to Agri PV

6.To work collaboratively on any other topics of common interest such as precision farming, NRM, organic farming and other similar areas.
