Key Initiatives Contributing to the Accreditation
Over the past
two years, several impactful initiatives under the dynamic leadership of Prof.
(Dr.) Indra Mani, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, have played a pivotal role in
enhancing the university’s performance in academics, research, extension, and
infrastructural development. Major developments include the upgradation of
student amenities, such as the renovation of hostels, guest houses, and
internal roads; and the effective implementation of the New Education Policy
(NEP) 2020, along with the curriculum recommended by the Sixth Deans’ Committee
at the undergraduate level and the BSMA curricula at the postgraduate level.
The establishment of the Maharashtra Farm Mechanization Centre and skill
development programmes on advanced mechanization under CSR support from
industries have significantly strengthened practical learning opportunities.
The university also established a Common Incubation Centre (CIC) for value
addition in sugarcane products to foster entrepreneurship development. Several
new collaborative research projects were initiated in partnership with reputed
national and international institutions. The development of 2,500 acres of
barren land led to a significant boost in quality breeder seed production. The
university has also been at the forefront of promoting drone technology in
agriculture, offering a six-month professional course on ‘Drones in
Agriculture’, establishing a custom hiring centre, and preparing Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drone applications in agriculture.
The effective implementation of extension programmes viz., the regular organization of "Maza Ek Diwas Majhya Balirajasobat" (My One Day with My Farmer), and periodic online Farmer-Scientist Interaction programmes. The university has developed new climate-resilient crop varieties, innovative farm tools and equipment, and has released technological recommendations based on ongoing research.
Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani emphasized that this recognition is the result of the united efforts of the entire university community. He reiterated VNMKV’s commitment to fostering student-centric education, innovation centric research, farmers centric extension, and employee centric administration - strengthening the university’s growing influence in the national agricultural education landscape.
